Location is excellent, just minutes from Central Park. Shared bathrooms could use more cleanliness and better ventilation. The gym facilities, including squash courts, are a nice perk for active guests.

The West Side YMCA offers a fantastic location in the heart of New York City, making it easy to explore. The recently remodeled facilities, including the fitness classes and pool, are impressive. Just remember to bring a swim cap for pool access, as that rule is strictly enforced!

My recent stay was fantastic, as I found myself just a few steps from Central Park, with easy access to Columbus Square and Lincoln Center, and only a 20-minute picturesque walk to Times Square, making my weekend strolls through the vibrant streets of Manhattan so enjoyable; the room was comfy and equipped with air conditioning, which was a blessing during the heat wave, but the shared bathroom situation could use some improvement.

The location is unbeatable, right near Central Park. The staff is friendly and quick to help with any requests. Wi-Fi works like a charm, perfect for streaming my favorite shows.
Found some cleanliness issues, so be prepared.

The location is a gem, just steps from Central Park, making spontaneous adventures easy. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful, even if one was a bit rude. the cleanliness leaves much to be desired—an old disinfectant smell, drafty windows, and shared bathrooms that could use maintenance. While the bed turned out comfortable enough, I struggled to sleep due to noise from outside. Amenities like hot water for drinks were nonexistent, forcing a daily coffee run. A unique place for budget travelers, but with some adjustments, it could be so much better.

I loved the unbeatable location, being just a stroll away from iconic sites. The indoor pool was a fabulous surprise for some relaxation after exploring the city. The staff treated me like family, making my stay feel warm and welcoming!

The location was fantastic, allowing easy access to Central Park and the American Museum of Natural History. the room lacked charm. Beds were paper thin, offering little comfort. The pillows felt almost non-existent, while the air conditioning didn’t function properly. There wasn’t enough space for storing clothes, making it inconvenient during showers. The cleanliness was subpar, with bathrooms often crowded and out of supplies. Although the small refrigerator was a nice touch, facilities like the pool and gym could not compensate for the uncomfortable and cramped room experience. Staff interactions could also improve, as courtesy was lacking.

Relatively quiet location with easy access to public transport. The building, though under reconstruction, holds potential. Room was clean, with a comfortable bed, but the wheels were a nuisance, rolling across the floor. Air conditioning was effective but exceedingly loud. Staff were polite but lacked communication regarding credit card mishaps; I did encounter one roach, a surprise, but staff handled the room switch promptly. Amenities like the gym and pool were well-maintained. Bathrooms need immediate renovation—non-functional sinks and lighting were concerning. A solid option if booked in advance, but improvements in infrastructure are essential for a better experience.

Room was clean and had a nice setup. Staff were friendly and helpful, made me feel welcome from the start.
It wasn’t cheap, but it was worth the price for what you get.

The bathrooms were a nightmare—only three showers for the whole floor, and they were absolutely disgusting. I found hair everywhere, and the overall cleanliness was questionable.

With diverse classes for parents and a cozy theater down the street, there's something for everyone within reach at this family-friendly spot.
In my wife's opinion, more child-friendly activities would enhance family experiences.

I felt like royalty having a personal trainer at my disposal, surrounded by fun programs for every interest. The neighborhood was posh, with all amenities easily accessible by public transport.
Who needs peace and quiet when you have a noisy bathroom echoing every move? .

First off, the location was top-notch. Being right next to Central Park West was a dream come true. I could easily walk to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and Radio City Music Hall within 20 minutes – talk about convenience! Now, let's get into the nitty-gritty. The room I stayed in was cozy, but I did notice a couple of things that could use some attention. The heating was a bit wonky at first, but thankfully they fixed it promptly, so no biggie there. The bed, though, was not the most comfortable – I could feel the springs in my back, which made for some restless nights. On the bright side, the staff at the reception were super friendly and always ready to help. But, I did have a couple of run-ins with some rude staff members – guess it's just luck of the draw. And about those bathrooms. they were on the smaller side, and sometimes they ran out of essentials like toilet paper or hot water. I did appreciate the cleanliness of the place, though. Despite the dated rooms, everything was kept tidy and safe. All in all, there were some ups and downs during my stay at the West Side. If you're a backpacker looking for a budget option with a killer location, it might be worth considering. Just be prepared for a no-frills experience.

the location was so good, near central park and a few minutes by foot to times square and other attractions. the price for what you get is fine. the stuff were so friendly with me. i would definitely repeat if i come back. the deluxe single room was a good size for one person. it had its own air conditioner which worked very well. i was pleased to have a small fridge so that i could keep food in my room for breakfast. the bathrooms were very clean and i never had to wait to use one.
Nothing not to love ❤️

The location rocks! Right by Central Park, with a super quick walk to Times Square. And talk about convenience , a Starbucks nearby for that morning pick, me, up. Our deluxe bunk room was a cozy haven after a long flight, with clean digs, AC on point, and a fridge for snacks. The semi, private bathrooms were surprisingly cool, with key access and tidy maintenance throughout the day. A real bang for your buck in the heart of the city!
Bathroom blues , one night, a water hiccup left us high and dry after a sweaty day out. Frustrating!

During my recent stay, I appreciated the clean bathrooms and good internet connection. The location was convenient, making it easy to explore the city. having a fridge in the room was a nice touch and helped keep my drinks cold.
The rooms were quite small and lacked storage space for clothes. The air conditioning had a musty smell, and the cleaning schedule seemed inconsistent.

We hit up Lincoln Center for mad cultured vibes, then flexed our creativity in the sick art classes. The pro theater was dope for some chill vibes. West Side YMCA got us covered for those vibes and growth as a crew.
Yo, just need a bit more of them hip hangout spots for us party peeps! .

As a family guest, I was pleased with my stay at this hostel. The staff was friendly and responsive, and the location was fantastic, close to Central Park and various amenities. The rooms were clean, and I appreciated the access to the gym and pool. It was like having my own college dorm room, with everything I needed. Meeting guests from around the world was also a highlight.
The housekeeping staff was quite early in the mornings, which was a bit disruptive. Additionally, the rooms were small with limited space and lacked a hairdryer and fridge.

the location is unbeatable - right uptown in front of central park with the subway station a mere 3 minutes away by foot. it's in a safe area with a decent gym and sauna on-site. the staff is super friendly and the luggage storage is securely organized.
